We're excited to be participating in the Family Online Safety Institute's Annual Conference, in Washington, D.C. November 9th and 10th. I'll be on a panel led by Monica Vila, "the Online Mom," alongside some terrific parenting bloggers. Here's the topic direct from the program:
Report from the FRONT LINE: Moms and Dads talk about what's next to protect kids
Recent survey released by FOSI demonstrates an increased awareness and use by parents of parental controls to protect their children online, but what are the most pressing issues day-to-day faced by moms and dads given the increased pressure to use and embrace technology?
Our panel explores the connection between parenting and technology, how it has evolved in ways that are both good and dangerous. Issues such as how to achieve connectedness with your kids so they make good decisions and how brands can best communicate the value of the available tools to increase safeguards against inappropriate content, contact and conduct.
This is a great conference, and I hope those of you in the area can make it. As usual, we'll be advocating for technologies and products designed to increase openness and conversation, those that bring families closer. Getting into a tech arms race with your children over how completely you can track their whereabouts and communication..well, that's not our style!
